Experience

|
| 1994-1996 | Seminars and Journal Club Presentations, Baylor College of Medicine. These presentations ranged from the description of techniques and areas of study, to the analysis of individual research articles. During this period I also assisted in the supervision of graduate students in Dr. Johnston's lab. |
| 1989-1993 | Laboratory Demonstrator, Stages 1-3 Psychology, Otago University. During the course of my Ph.D., I was responsible for teaching the laboratory components of both introductory and advanced psychology courses. The introductory level courses involved presenting background information on specific tasks, and guiding students through mainly computer-driven experiments. The experiments ranged from psychophysical measures to the study of group dynamics. In the more advanced courses I was responsible for introducing students to the neuroanatomy of the rat, sheep and human brains and both acute and chronic electrophysiological recording techniques. During most of my graduate period I also assisted in the supervision of Dr. Abraham's honor and master degree students. |
| 1992-1993 | Guest Lecturer, Psychology, Otago University. Neuropsychology. |
| 1987-1989 | Teaching Assistant, Psychology, University of Calgary. My duties involved developing and teaching a laboratory class on experimental design. In this course I taught scientific writing skills, experimental design considerations, and statistical analysis (ANOVA and post-hoc tests). A major aim of the course was to illustrate the adverse effects of inadequate experimental control. In the final year of this course I also implemented a segment which introduced the use of computers in psychology. |
